F1RS Patch 1.07 is out!

by Black Hear » Thu, 26 Feb 1998 04:00:00

HELLO!

Please (everyone) read what I wrote before you flame me.... I BUILT A WHEEL
to play F1rs!!! I DON'T LIKE STICKS - that's what I SAID - read it again and
you'll get it.

The point I made is that the game seems to have a very large dead spot in
the centre of the travel to account for JOYSTICK users. Since I can drive, I
find this quite unnerving. BTW: Codemasters TOCA works correctly: it's not
a problem with my hardware.

Then something hits me - someone mentioned I might be set up as a joystick.
Now, 'scuse me, but I thought (wrongly) that all the listed controllers were
sticks. Turns out (and I stand corrected) that at least DX5 and F1rs does
account for both types! There IS a dead spot - but only for the stick users.
Wheels *are* handled correctly.

My apologies to anyone I misled with this assumption. Oddly, I seemed to
have missed this in the manual.... errrm. I'm mailing a copy of this to
UbiSoft so their tech people are aware of explebs like me who should know
better. [*crawls into a corner and weeps pitifully*]

For those debating self-build.... buy one. It's simpler and for my money (if
I had any - I traded it for a wife and 2 kids) the Thrustmaster takes a
heluva lot of beating.

F1RS Patch 1.07 is out!

Had mine since last June and it has seen many active hours in combat with
F1RS,GP2,Network Q Rally and TOCA - still working-in fact as it has got
'looser' (disliked the auto centering) it has got much, much better-I can only
speak as I find but I have no complaints.

I have never seen anything but yellow and checkered flags in GP2.
Do others exist (besides in the manual)?.  I've followed cars and
watched their engines blow up, but never seen a flag.  I've
never seen a blue flagfor backmarkers either.  Do I need to be
running 100% races?
