rec.autos.simulators

The game attempts to start I hear the hydraulic jack sound, then the
screen goes blank and the pc locks up and I have to reboot, cannot even
ctrl, alt & delete.

After getting responses from others I have:

I have checked sound card and graphics card drivers, I have the latest.

I have made sure swap file is at least 500mb.

I have turned off sound acceleration and even tried turning off sound
completely.

I have installed the no cd patch, still doesn't start.

I have tried re-installing the game.

Any ideas please?

I have Asus A7V m/b with 512mb pc 133 ram and AMD duron 1.3gb cpu with
GeForce3 Ti200 graphics card and Hercules Fortissimo II sound card, and
I'm using win98se.

  lots of users have a similar setup to yours, so it should work.  Did you
try out the f1 sim before attempting to mod it with gtr?  That should
always be the first thing...run the original to verify it's properly
installed.  Do not begin a mod install until your sure the original is
working properly.

i..e running GTRun.exe instead of  GTRacing2002.exe to skip the pre game
menu.

or making sure you don't have large fonts in your windows display properties
or GTR 2002 won't load.
