Help running GPL on new system (used to work before)

by Carl Smit » Tue, 19 Aug 2003 08:49:46

I recently upgraded my system and can't seem to get GPL running. The screen
goes black, then returns to the desktop. Has anyone else had this problem?
I've installed the v1.2 patch, cpu fix and direct 3d patch (with proper
edited core.ini file). This is the only game I can't run :-(

Specs;

Windows XP (all updates) with DX 9.1
AMD 2400+ with 512 ram
Epox 8KHA+ motherboard
Samsung 151N LCD monitor
nVideo 4200Ti 128M (using 44.03 drivers)
SB Live Value

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's something to try:

Pull up the properties for your GPL folder, click "advanced", make sure "For
fast searching, allow Indexing Service to index this folder" is checked,
apply, and pick "apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files".

Now try GPL again.

HTH!

I also had problems with getting GPL to run under XP after upgrading OS's.  I
just re-checked my settings, so try this.  (I assume that you formatted your
drive in NTFS rather than FAT32)

Turn on indexing on the drive.  In My Computer, right-click, then select
"properties" and make sure there's a check mark next to fast indexing.
Do this, even if you have the indexing service disabled under services.msc.
That's what worked for me....

Good Luck.

To help the speed of your system, only select "allow indexing" on the GPL
directory. I noticed a marked improvement in my system speed when I disabled
indexing on everything but that folder.
