Nascar2 save - a proposal

Nascar2 save - a proposal

Would the following save procedure satisfy _most_ needs?

After a session you can save and go on to the next session later.
During a race you can hit pause, then save, and you restart exactly from
the pause, just as if you unpaused.

Those must be trivial to implement in a patch.  I know people want
more, but would the no frills approach be worth doing???

At the moment - I would pleased to be able to save after qualifying -
making it really a race weekend.  This would allow driver randomization
after qualifying and allow me to work on qualifying as a seperate excercise
from racing.

I would be even happier with what you propose.  In fact, being able to
resume as if I had just paused is much better than starting under caution
as is currently implemented in N1 - but this is probably even more
difficult - since tire temps, speeds etc would need to be saved.

I like your idea. This way, you can save your race, and still can't
cheat.I wish this was in Nascar 1 as well as 2.

How's that again? Granted, you couldn't get the benefit of the "I wish
I could get a yellow and avoid going a lap down", but you could still
cheat quite easily...
This proposal doesn't solve the cheating problem by a long shot...

Uh oh!  This almost sounds like an un-official statement that the
Save-Game option is missing from NASCAR2 because the "programmers" DID
want to prevent cheating.   Of course, I am sure that this is not what
Jim is meaning to imply by his statement.  He is just pointing out a
"hole" in the poster's arguement.  If this is the case I agree.  However,
if the reason we don't have the save-game feature is to preventing
cheating, well..... (ahh, I've already addressed that).

Okay, Jim, you've opened the "P" box...  Which is it?  It's missing to
prevent cheating -or- there wasn't time to program it the way the
development team wanted it to work?

This is getting to be FAQ by now. The feature is not in there because
there wasn't time to program it given the various constraints the N2
team faced.

No one sat down and said "Geez guys, some of our customers really
liked this feature, but we've figured out that they can use it to
cheat; we've got to take it out!"

I realize that some are unhappy about it, but that's the way it
currently stands. People planning future products are certainly aware
of the situation, and aware of the unhappiness this has caused.

My only purpose in responding above was to point out the obvious flaw
in this "fix" for the cheating problem...

Perhaps I need to refrain from posting on any even vaguely
controversial topics.
