No. My old machine has W95 and an ISA AWE64, and looks just like you
describe. You will find the settings I mentioned on your new machine. I
believe they are provided by the SB64/128 driver.
There seems to be another way to deal with the problem: take apart the
sound.dat file, lower the volume of the engine, and put it back together. I
do not know the details how to do this, but they will be on one of the GPL
sites for sure.
