: Here's what happens:
: I'm racing Long Beach, in first by 20+ seconds and I brush a
: back-marker, sending him into a spin and the wall. Yellow comes out, and
: I go rolling into the pit lane. Fuel, Tires, and I'm on my way. I pit in
: first and make it back out to the track before anyone else. No-one
: passes up the pits while I'm there, and there's no one around when I
: exit pit lane. The game then tells me to "Stay behind #xx" but he's
: nowhere around!! He's on the other side of the track, still a 1/2 lap
: down to me!!! I ease up to the pace car and follow it around to the
: restart, and I'm black flagged!! This is not the first time this has
: happened to me either. It's happened every time I pit under yellow.
: (I've yet to make a green flag pit stop) Anyone else had this problem???
This seems to be a BIG bug for the road coarses in ICR2. I don't
remember it happening to me on the ovals. The weird thing about it is
that the AI cars can pit on a yellow and not get black-flagged. I
followed the leaders in once and was told to get behind the last car on
the lead lap when I came out of the pits. My theory is that the
programmers left over some logic from NASCAR relating to entering a
"closed" pit lane. In NASCAR the penality is to be placed at the
end of the longest line (which there is only one in Papyrus's version).
One problem with pitting under the yellow on the ovals is trying to stay
behind the pace car. Due to the pit entrance layout at Nazareth, I
passed the pace car (even though I kept my speed around 70 mph -- not
wanting to get ko'ed by everyone else wanting to pit) just the "split
second" before entering the pits. Of course there was NO way to get
behind the pace car before entering the pits, thus I was black-flagged.
I shoulda won that race, but ended up finishing 6th on the tail end of
the lead lap. Never got a chance to catch up with the leaders before
the white dropped.
