Yes Martin... the autocross track! I used to drive the green "porsche"
too... it was fast and fun. (see my reply to Brent about "infinite"
time...)

On the long straight before the Masta Kink...

Look at the left of the track, just behind the wall of hell exiting the
corner before (WHO was enough stupid to think "Hey well let's put this big
wall just where some people drift exiting the corner).  ;-)

And btw, anybody knows what is the thing in that straight, on the right side
of the track before you enter the Masta Kink ? A Cemetery ?

Its in the beginning section at least drive to the end of the really long
straight with the esses in the middle of it.  Since you want to drive on the
tracks, just driving in the arcade view and watch the left side of the road.

You have to go up a hill to get on it.

Jason.

Unfortunately I was never so good as to play for your hour and
half!  If only I didn't keep sliding the car's rear end through that
final turn, maybe I'd have gone faster...   However, even 20 minutes
for a quarter is an amazing value for your money compared to today's
"one dollar for three minutes" arcade games.
By the way, did you ever play Race Drivin' on the "extra
fancy" version?  This is the sitdown cabinet with three screens and a
very well-made metal-and-wood shifter.

Martin.. never played on that one. sounds cool. That last turn *was* a
difficult one. A real tricky double apex thingy. I often went into it a
little hot and pushed out to the edge of the track then re-apexed late
onto the straight... not easy.

Yeah, that was a good value :-) Nothing in the arcade comes close to it,
even now.

The Skid Pad was a well kept secret.  I had pumped hundreds of quarters into
that game before I ever thought of turning left there.

And here I thought I was the only fool who wished I could still find that
game in an arcade.  The "new" racing games don't even come close in physics.

Wasn't it a Nissan Z car, or SX that was modeled?  Seem to remember reading
about it somewhere.  I was always amazed by the FF steering, but
disappointed by the game requiring you to use the clutch once under way.

Anyone know where I could pick up one of these old games (either one - Hard
Drivin', or Race Drivin')?  I'd still love to have one.

Now THIS is a good idea!

I hope that somebody with a bit of background in making tracks will
pick up on this idea.

There are a few tracks where you can just about manage to get off the
ground for a few moments, but they're no where near as much fun as the
sort of thing you're speaking of.

Keep the ideas flooding in!
