If you are looking for setups - well, there are none on
didnt.doit.wisc.edu, as most people who have fast setups will
not release those. There's been a long discussion about it
in this newsgroup, and even those people who claimed they don't
care who else gets to benefit from their long hours of testing
and tinkering have never uploaded any setups to the server.
basically - there are "setup hints" at didn't doit - to be
specific, on it's IICC-related web server, under the hotlap
or track record sections. The hints may actually be more
useful, as driving style and input device matter a lot in a
very fast setup. Also - the fastest setups for ovals are
usually very borderline drivable, optimzed for very special
weather conditons. There are dozens of fast oval setups for
each track - all depending on what temperature you are running at
(forget running in wind - there i sno fast setup for a windy
oval ...) , what engine, what chassis, what input device, etc.
you are running.
Basic rules of thumb: manual shift is mandatory on every
track, so don't even think of being fast anywhere without
being able to shift as you drive! And this applies to ovals,
too!
Anyway - look at the server on
http://didnt.doit.wisc.edu/Peter/default.html and dig into
the menu's until you see the hotlap and record screens, from
where you sometimes will be able to go to pages with track maps and
setup hints.
