Mr. Pickett's server is up again!. At last!
I've been missing that server. By reading EldredP's posts at the R.A.S., I
kind of identified myself with him. Me, - the newbie (driven for 4 months),
simply couldn't understand how Huttu and the other aliens could do such
marvelous laps at ?very track. When I tried these guy's setups, my respect
for these fast guys grew even bigger. These guys drive fast, in spite of
their setups! Rebound values at 1 and 53 pst brake balance, - with a hefty
toe at the rear at Monza???? My experience is that that is a very successful
way of committing suicide.
Newbies: Use 58, 57 or 56 pst brake balance, and very little toe in at the
rear. If not, the car is controlling you, not the other way around. Those
settings enables you to trailbrake easily (braking while cornering, thus
shortening braking distance).
EldredP: You have been a great inspiration to me. Your PB's has been
benchmarks for me. I'ver learned that you rely on other people's setups, and
that you have a hard time achieving low 1.28s and sub 3.20s at Spa. Mail me
replays of your best laps, and I will study your way of driving. Then I will
try to develop a setup suitable for your driving style. BTW. My PB in the
Lotus is 1.27.29 and 1.26.99 on those tracks, using 56 ad 55 pst brake
balance (I still haven't figured out the braking points at Spa, though)..
Keep on GPL-ing EldredP. You've been an inspiration to a lot of people, and
will still be.
