GPL Will not Load! HELP

Now I have been out of the GPL for awhile.   But have decided to race again
and now GPL will not start.  Since I have played GPL previously I have
loaded DirectX8.0.

I am running 3dfx Vodoo3 2000 with Win95 and Soundblaster live.   Has
anybody experienced a similiar problem in the past?  Am I missing an obvious
fix?  I re-installed the Vodoo drivers and DirectX to no avail.   And even
re-installed GPL to another drive...still nothing.   GPL starts and flashed
the 3dfx screen and then goes black.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!  I want my GPL!

try getting rid of the 3dfx splash screen, you'll be able to do it in the
3dfx options somwhere.
