First off it means you need to read the error messages a little closer.
It should actually read "Failed to initialize IPX network card!"
This means that N2 can't find the IPX drivers (or they aren't installed
correctly)
How does that apply to Kali..
If you are running Kali Dos, then you probably forgot to run Kali.exe
itself.
Unlikely, but so is that kind of error in that situation.
If you are running Kali95 then it is probably because of the shortcut
options you've selected.
If you are using some form of restart into dos then N2 can't see the IPX
drivers that Kali provided.
I personally prefer to run Kali Dos for performance reasons. However I
have fairly standard equipment which can be (and has been) properly
configured to work in Dos.
I didn't but my computer "off the shelf", just the parts.

I got the same error. I installed a second copy of Nascar 2 on
my hard drive and configured that one for Kali. I still don't
know why I got the error in the first installation. The second
install was also patched with the Papy patches.
Maybe it is because I have fiddle with some of the files that
the 1st installed copy doesn't work.
