Mark:
Once you get connected, type "binary".  You're having problems
because that machine is a Mac, and yours probably isn't.  Type "binary"
before transmitting the files, and it'll work.

Why don't we just all agree that binary is the new default mode?  [frustration
being vented from a vendor who has seen SOOOOOO many of these complaints come
in the support center... "Sun's ftp corrupts data every time I transfer..."]

Oh cool - different opponents to punt off the track!

Yes, and everyone i know had the same problem too. It has nothing to
do with binary/non-binary download, it just doesn't work. I ended up getting it
from a WWW site. Ill post it when i can find it again.

Sorry, but I'm really sure that file is not corrupt.  MANY people have
obtianed it from that site, including me.  The file DOES work.

Wrong!  The file is not corrupted - you guys must be forgetting to type
"binary".  If that's not it, then possibly you have an outdated version
of pkunzip.  That's all I can think of, since the file works fine for me
(and many others).

Yes, there really seems to be some trouble with didnt.doit(and also
brains.ac...). I tried to download file ports.zip, and when I tried to
unzip it, it reported the file being a multi-part zipfile or not a
zipfile at all.

I really don't care how you screwed up downloading it, but due to your
complainign I wasted some time verifying it yet again - the file is fine.

Also: if you feel like posting a large binary file - make sure you know
where to do that... This newsgroup is NOT the place for such posts.

The file does indeed work.  Something you who have problems might consider is
a bad link, incompatible FTP daemon/client, and of course check your
ASCII/Binary mode before you transfer.  Also, aborted transfers can affect the
file's performance.

guess what - this file is not a ZIP - no idea what's wrong here, because
the file has been here for many, many months!

Simple solution: drag file into trash - no more paorts.zip on didnt.doit.
Anyone know where this file came from and what it is supposed to be
good for? I never opened it, since I don't have a copy of F1GP anymore...
