GPL drops to desktop.. please help!

I just updated my system a bit ago - had to reinstall some drivers for
Return to Wolfenstein to run.. now GPL wont run at all.  I get the
3dfx splash screen then a couple seconds of the GPL loading screen
then it just drops back to desktop.

System:
PIII 800Mhz
Win XP Pro
60gb HD space
1024MB RAM
16mb Voodoo Banshee w/ drivers that work on everything else

I tried reinstalling it with just software accelleration and tried
running the d3d patch.. same result both times.. keeps dumping back to
desktop.  I looked at previous posts & didnt really see anything.. any
assistance would be very much appreciated.. thanks!

Yes in software mode and after I applied the d3d patch it would run.
Not optimally, but it would at least run.  With the 3dfx driver
update, it wont run at all.

    windows xp don't support voodoo cards, from what i read in newsgroups.
    -if possible chance to a d3d card.

It does support Voodoo5 officially, you just won't get D3D. There are 3rd
party hacks to get most Voodoo cards running on XP though. I have the same
problem with GPL on a Radeon 8500 so it's probably video related, but also
specific to GPL because I can run any other game fine on XP so far. Maybe
Papy will bestow us with another freebie patch to show their love for their
supporters.

I'd say your *** a dead horse with that Banshee and Win XP.
BAAADDD combo.

Realistically, the Banshee was not even really great competition for
the V2 at the time, and it looks even worse now. Even a <gasp> TNT2
would scream along compared to the Banshee. Time for an upgrade I say.
