No, but I own both too so the fact you own both gives no more

AMD 1.4ghz too hot?

I've got a Global Win CAK-38 Copper Heat Sink with one case fan for my 1.33
GHz.  I'm running it on the ASUS A7A266 MoBo.  After playing games all day
in 30C ambient heat it's running at 42C.  While it may be a bit on the noisy
side, it REALLY does it's job.  Just use some silver compound when you mount
the heat sink, and you won't even have to think about it afterwards.

AMD 1.4ghz too hot?

60 deg C.....way too hot, Dave.  Sounds to me like he either did not apply
thermal paste ....or didn't apply it properly.

Reference temps (this is the last "race box" I built about three weeks ago):

1.333 AMD overclocked to 1.7+ (multiplier oc) runs 32 deg C at idle (75
deg F ambient room temp) and 35 deg C after "hours" of N4.  I ran 3DMark2001
(loop) for 16 hours and got it to 36 deg C once!  Chassis temps on this unit
run about 33-36 deg C, and case temps run 24-27 deg C.

    **Cooling system specs:  Intake-front (1), 90 mm fan;  Exhaust-rear (2),
90 mm fans (one above power supply, one below in PCI slot area), Blowhole
(1), 120mm fan (side mount over video card area);  CPU fan is Swiftech
MC-462-A (with Delta fan); Thermal paste: Arctic Silver.  All power supply
cabling is zip-strapped to case sides/surfaces and IDE cables are 5-part
stripped, and shrink-wrapped (presents an airflow profile about the size of
a finger).

The only drawback to this system is its loud.  However, I only use it as a
"race box" so with the 800 watts surround sound system cranked....who cares?
One side benefit:  You can air condition your house with this unit in the
summer.....just stick it in a window near your race desk.....lol....

Actually, on an ASUS MoBo that may not be hot at all, I have 3 AMD's
myself, running on different variations of the ASUS A7V MoBo, and all 3
runs above 60C under 100% CPU load, and yes, I use good HS/Fans and
either run with the lid off or have added more fans to the case itself,
it may be that ASUS measures the temps a bit differently than others

On an ASUS MoBo, it's not uncommon to see temps in the high 60's, it may
be that ASUS measures the temp differently

AMD 1.4ghz too hot?

Same motherboard and about the same temps here (with 1.33 AMD), actually
55-60 deg C with sidelid off up to 77 C with it on (no extrafans in case and
a bit of poor airflow, ordered a casefan but still waiting for it) , seems
to run just fine at 77C with one exception it seems to increase the risk of
getting booted then doing onlineracing, maybee something else is getting to
hot inside since motherboard temp says 55-58 deg C then the sidelid is on
