GT/Sports car sims?

Howdy:  I've been enjoying this group for a month now, and have yet to
see any discussion of simulations of GT, Endurance, or Sports Car racing
sims. Are there any good ones? Any plans to make one? You know what I
mean--racing at LeMans, Daytona, Sebring, etc. in a Mclaren/BMW F1, a
Panoz, Ferrari 333sp--maybe even a GT-40 or a Cobra coupe, a Chaparral,
or a Porsche 917. does anyone alse share my desire for this kind of
racing?

The best compromise i have found is the sports car carsets available at Sim
Project:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/;    i think its 86gtp Silk cut
Jags/Mercedes/962s ect.
The set is for Papyrus Cart. so you will have to run on the indy
circuits, you could sqint a bit and imagine road america is La Sarthe
                         *** Grantham :]

Aabout as close as you can get now are some carsets for Indycar Racing
2/Cart Racing that change the look of the Championship cars to 1986 GTP
cars.    You can check those cars out at The Sim Project.  (I think they
also have one newer set from the 90's.

Bob,
I think there are a great many of us who would love to see a sports car sim.
Personally, I wouldn't mind blasting around Riverside in Mark Donahue's 917
30K, or the Mille Miglia in Fangio's Mercedes!

All we have to do is convince the software companies....

I'd love to see a GTP sim, but how likely is that?  USRRC/Professional
SportsCar would be cool too, but right now all we have are the GTP cars for
IndyCar II, which are pretty good but don't drive like GTPs.

Look at the preview at:
http://www.digitalsports.com/pc2/sportscar/preview.html

Viper GTRs, Porsche 911 GT1s etc. racing on tracks like Mosport
and some major speedway with an infield section (couldn't
be Daytona, could it?)

Hey, thanks for the URL Steve! If this thing is half decent it will
be taking up a lot of peoples time :) Anyone have any inside info on
exactly how good this thing is looking? Arcade or sim?

When you get the set fron TSP, if you want to join or start a team
then head on over to http://www.racesimcentral.net/
and have a look around. The director of this league is currently tied
up with El Nino commitments but it should be up and running soon enough
:) So, how do you feel about a 24 hour race and many 12 hour, 6 hour,
etc events???????????

EA Sports were alledged to be working on a Le Mans sim a couple of years
ago.  Think it got cancelled though.

It sure is. Best form of racing on the net except for NROS. Hopefully
it too will be online soon.

Given that none of the screenshots feature an in-car view, I suspect
this will be another arcade racer...

Hey Byron,

Have a look at this month's Next-Gen mag...They've got a full write-up
on the new sim, and what's really cool are the car shots - the Mustangs
look like...er, well...Mustangs!!  =))

Cheers!

Marc
BTW, there's a tiny shot of an in-car view, but so far, it ain't all
that great looking, but at least it's there.  =)
