Is there something I should know abt. getting SyGate to work with Win ME,
like turning off ME's faux proxy server settings?  Like, where?  TIA.

It is.  I am using it now.

The great thing about sygate vs. wingate is that you don't need to touch
anything with sygate.  Just get you LAN going first, i.e. netbuei and such,
so that you can ping both machines, and don't touch anything else.
Especially microsoft internet connection sharing, don't touch it or you'll
be sorry.

just install sygate and it'll work default.

Concensus seems to be my SyGate ver is outta date (they oughta put an expire
date on the packaging, like on milk cartons) if I want it to work w. ME.
I've got 3-something; I need 4-something.  I love the product, hate the
company.  To buy it outright: $40; to upgrade: $60; a logical biz plan:
priceless....  Plus, they're unbelievably rude on the phone (in the odd
instances when a human even deigns to answer the call) and never, ever
respond to emails.

SyGate Compatible w. Win ME?

I had equal success joining races running ZoneAlarm and Sygate PF, but
neither product let me host races.  I now run Tiny PF.  It's harder to
learn, but has been the least problematic once setup and I can now
host races with the firewall still running.
