i would have to say that unless you are playing the rendition version (which
you need a 3d card plus the rendition card) you need a very fast processor to
play it with all options on.
for non-rendition i think that is the most important thing. i am using a 4mb
matrox millenium and i get full frame rate in dos with every thing on. but i
think this is so because i have a p200. i would love to hear from people with
rendition cards to let me know what they think of this?
i have a 3dfx card, should i wait to see if there is a patch going to be
released, or is the rendition version worth buying a rendition card just for
nascar2??
Steve
Whoa there no-caps boy. Having a rendition card does not mean you need a
3d card as well. I have an Intergraph Reactor (now called Intergraph
Intense 3D) as the only video in my system. You're giving out bum
information here.
If you're going to play N2 the most it would make sense to spend the $149
or whatever the Intergraph card is going for these days and enjoy, since
N2 is pretty much designed for rendition graphics right out of the box.
The rendition version of N2 is not currently supported by TEN/NROS but
it's coming.

For under $300.00 you can get just about any card (not high end of
course).
IF... and I do mean IF, the 3dfx patch comes about and is a good
patch... I would get the Canopus Pure 3D. If that doesnt happen, or
happen soon, I would wait to see the Hercules Thriller 3D in action.
The StealthII S220 is a good general card... but currently has a problem
with running in DOS mode. Works well in Windows95 though. The Stealth
can be had for about $109.00 to $119.00. Not 100% sure for the Canopus
Pure 3D.. may be around $179.00, but Im not sure on that... best too
look around. Im sure people on RAS have some great advice on where to
purchase cards from and to get the best deal by shopping around.

You do not need 1 3d card AND a rendition card to run N2 in Rendition
mode. A rendition card works by itself.

sorry caps man. my mistake . i have been looking into buying one cause i
have a 3dfx card and a millenium i was thinking of getting rendition
just for n2. i have been told that it is a add-on like my 3dfx card.
i guess they are all not add-on cards, but can u get them as an add-on
card mr. smarty?
i would be pretty dumb to have a millenium sitting in my computer an not
use it. i dont want to have to spend money for a 2d/3d card (rendition)
when i already have a good 2d card.
Steve (caps just for u)
as for my question to rendition card holders was never answered:
i am using a 4mb
matrox millenium and i get full frame rate in dos with every thing on.
but i
think this is so because i have a p200. i would love to hear from people
with
rendition cards to let me know what they think of this?
i would like to know if rendition fixes the draw distance or not and if
the graphics are THAT much better. i have heard that rendition sucks..
