Hmmm. I'd say spend a few dollars and get a P166. The P75 has slower
bus speed, and not enough horsepower. :)

What is the best card to purchase for a computer that only has a 75 mhz cpu
and would work with N2 so the graphic would not gerk and would allow better
door to door racing. Is the new Hercules card the best deal or is there another
that would work as well and not be as high priced.

N2 runs fantastic with my Gateway P5-75 and the Intense 3D graphics card.
You will not be disappointed.

Try a Intergraph Intense 3D. they are going for $99 now and they will
let you run the Rendition mode of N2, and if you have the patched
version of N2 you can run the -4 switch which will speed up the game as
well. If you are really lucky you can run -dma and the speed goes up
tremendously, but the chances of DMA compatability on your 75mhz system
are pretty slim.
try http://www.intergraph.com/ for the card.

I say:

Okay... wait just a minute: -4 switch? -dma?  Uhh... wha'dat?  Are these
items available only in Rendition mode, or can you flag the "N2"
commmand in DOS with these and activate them in 2D?  I think the -4
switch tells the game to load the "4 bit" cars (right?), but what does
the -dma do?

Thanks,

Andre

I just picked up the "Screamin' 3D" card from Sams warehouse for $100.00. I
installed it and tried N2. There was some improvement but not enough in the
rend mode to justify the $100.00. I replaced it with my simple STB graphics
card. Tomorrow I'll make a return trip to make a return (grin) I noticed
there was a marked decrease in frame rate with the rend mode. I have to
confess I didn't try the -4 switch. I just wasn't impressed at all with the
card. Just for anyone who is considering the discounted  Sierra card.  I'd
wait until it is discounted to around $50.00, before making  the plunge.

Did you try the -dma  switch?
Try it with the -4 switch and you won't take it back to the store.

good racin'
