Reactor! but MonsterTruckMadness = :(

by Ron » Sat, 09 Nov 1996 04:00:00

I did it! I called Intergraph yesterday and received my Reactor
promptly via Fed Ex overnite by 4pm delivery. It did work as plug n
play and I also installed the latest beta driver from >
ftp://download.gamespot.com/pub/whatsnew/wn951101.zip

Indy2 via rendition is great! I haven't even done much with it yet but
immediatly notice the tremendous graphics and increase in framerate.

Windows performance seems improved after installing the latest beta
driver I mentioned above.

My problem is Monster Truck Madness. The demo will work for me if I
select enable hardware accel... in graphics but if I change this back
to being disabled, I get garbage at the top of the screen during
gameplay and a "windoze95 crash" upon trying to exit. The commercial
version will not work at all for me. I even re-installed it and the
Reactor driver afterwards but all I can get is a similar crash without
even making it to the options screen. Anyone else having this problem
or know of a successful way of getting the Full MTM to work with the
reactor? Already called Intergraph tech and they are investigating the
problem and will be calling me back tomorrow. They seem to have a
great support staff.

Thanks,

Ron

Reactor! but MonsterTruckMadness = :(

Just a followup to my problem with installing and running Monster
Truck Madness (Full Version). Here's what I did and it seems to work
fine now with Reactor:

1. During install when it says the video is not recognized, directX,
ect... Do you want to install directX drivers? I Selected NO to All.

2. Next, before running MTM, I took the monsterx.ini from the demo
version and copied all parts thru the graphic environment settings to
the monster.ini . (This was my fix, I do believe, as it enabled
hardware/video acceleration and eleminated the windoze95 crash.)

I can now play the retail version of MTM and I must say, the reactor
greatly increased my graphics in both framerate and looks from my
S3Trio 64.

Another problem that I noticed I am having is my windows95 shutdown
monitor and/or standby modes now crash and lockup my system. I must
disable these...:( .
