N2 Patch Bug - Uneven tires temps after save

by Dale Horstm » Tue, 29 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Anyone else notice this problem?

After saving and reloading a race (BTW, thanks, Papy!) the tire temps
are all uneven.  It seems the inside of each tire remains at the proper
temp, but the middle and outside temps drop to 120 degrees.  This makes
for some rather unusual handling problems until the tires finally warm
up evenly (several laps later).

This problem is minimized by only saving the game during cautions or
just before/after tire changes in the pits, since the tire temps then
are generally lower than at full race speed ;-)

Note, I love this sim, and the patch fixes the most annoying problem
it had (namely, the save game), but I wonder if there is a simple fix
to implement?

Happy racing, watch those tire temps!

Sorry about that one ... I coulda sworn I reloaded and confirmed all three
tire temps were restored.  I'll put that into the bugs database ...

Yes, this is a "bug" with the patch.  Charlie Heath of Papyrus says this
appears to be one of the things that was fixed, but some how got lost in
the shuffle of putting all of the patch pieces together.  I bet a few of
the "minor" annoyances are caused by similar problems.  Also they were
looking at some of the "glaring" problems and some of the minor things
we are running across were just flat out missed.

Side Note:  Papyrus needs to force one of their in-house testers to run
in low-res mode.  Take away his or hers Pentium 200 and force them to
run with 486/66 and no Rendition card.  This way we wouldn't have the
problem with the Green-Glow of C***te.  ;-)

Michael....what's this "green glow" at C***te?
I can't recall seeing anything glowing green (I'm running a Rendition
card)
