Me too.  I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed...

with what it's trying to simulate.

Imagine 'rallycross' at entry level.

Looking at the  animated website gif, I thought the game was how far you
could punt the 50gallon barrels......

*Sound like* being the keyword here...  It not very close to what I regard
as racing and more like a demolition derby.

I understand your worry, but main emphasis in Flat-Out does stand on racing,
not demolition. Crashes look cool because they "feel" and behave
realistically. And hey, people like them so why not advertize them :)

I guess it will all depend upon the damage model available.

With an arcade-type, unrealistic damage model, forcing big spectacular
crashes may well prove to be a race-winning strategy, and "racing" as
I understand it will likely not exist.

With a realistic damage model, the effects of car-to-car contact will
likely end in early retirement, not the winner's trophy.

Please say there will be (at least the option of) realistic damage?

how many simultaneous players will this game support via
Internet? Will there be an open community platform for hosting
races like VROC or will are you planning another gameSpyWare
lockin?

Just curious. I think this title could be great fun online with
20 or more players on a tiny dirt track.

Cheers & looking forward to hear from you,

uwe
