What does everyone think of this game, compared to ICR2 (Which is a bit too
2D for my liking!).

Cheers,

Jon.

Great menus, lovely sound, alien AI, and bizarro-world physics.  You WANT to
like it, but..........(at least make sure you've got it patched)

Check out http://www.nh.ultranet.com/%7Ealison/sims/index.htm for some
excellent views on CPR and other driving sims.

The debate borders on the religious, with many who love its virtues, and
others who think it falls far short of its hype and promises.  Most agree
that the sound is incredibly realistic, and that the sense of speed is also
top-notch.  Most of the negative criticism centers around Microsoft's and
TRI's promises of ongoing support and fixes to users' complaints, and the
failure of delivery on those promises.  Indeed, Microsoft seems to have put
out a good first stab at a product with a lot of potential, but it looks
doubtful at this point that there will be an updated version anytime soon.

In any case, take a look at Microsoft's official CPR page
http://www.microsoft.com/games/precisionracing/cart/reviews.htm for some
biased reviews and also at the APEX - CART Precision Racing HQ
http://cart.gamestats.com/ for more info, downloads, setups, FAQ, etc.

I personally love the game.  I like Viper Racing better right now for the
physics and AI of the computer opponents, but there's still nothing like
hopping in a 900HP 1500lb open-wheel open-cockpit racer and turning laps at
237 mph!  I also hear now that you get a copy of CPR included with the
Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback steering wheel, so if you don't have a
wheel yet, go for it!
