You have to understand that most of us died-in-the-wool NASCAR guys are
rednecks at heart. If you were to meet me in my line of work, you'd likely
see a well dressed (no Armani, but I do fancy Brooks Brothers) clean cut
looking 30 something guy earning 6 figures and own a home that did not roll
to its location.
Come Sunday I will be promptly plopped in front of the 65" wide screen
cranking NASCAR through the Dolby 5.1 in my DEJ tee shirt and shorts... :)
(prolly knocking back a few of DEJ's sponsor's products too). My NASCAR
following does spill into my real life as I am a Chevy guy, both as a fan
and a 3 Chevy owner ( the wife's ride, my commuter and work vehicle are all
Bowties)
Why can this be? Because I was born in the 'home' state of the sport (NC,
live there still), have followed NASCAR since the mid 70's and actually made
a little something of myself in the mean time. I just didn't get all
snobbery when the money started coming in, stayed true to what I liked even
if it is a 'redneck' thing. Redneck is somewhat of a compliment where I come
from anyway...LOL
Good luck with the little lady, she can't be that bad if she likes NASCAR.
My wife has it worse than I do since I introduced her to it in 1990 (when we
married).
