than that of a GF2MX in my old P3 866?!?!?!?!?!
And why would that same GF2MX when put into the 1800XP also produce lower
reults (but still higher that with the GF4?!?!?!?!
It's driving me INSANE!!!

If the answer to this is yes, then forget the benchmarks :-)

N2002 (the only one that matters right now)
From 440MX to Ti4200 I get a 4fps increase at the start of a race at
Daytona - keeping me at 30fps (just) as we enter the front stretch and
the pits and grandstand become visible. I still get better
performance from D3D than OpenGL. Replay from***pit gives exactly
same results so it's gotta be a vidcard bottleneck.
I'm peeved. I know I shouldn't read too much into benchmarks, but my
scores seem curiously low. In another thread someone claimed a score
of circa 9500 with 1800XP/Ti4200 - I get around 6300.
One thing that was noted in the results of 3Dmark is that sideband
addressing(?) was available but disabled. What is this? Would it
increase performance and if so how do I enable it? How do I know if
my components are performing at their optimum?
I know this is awfully off topic but it's a simracing rig on a budget,
so improving framerates in Q3 or whatever doesn't interest me.
Anyone know of a group where I might get answers to these questions?
I'm getting more bald by the minute...
Cheers,
Mark

I've got a GF3Ti200 and on my XP2100+ system with DDR, I just top 7000
in 3dmark.
Let me know if you need any more details.

Now I need to find out if there's a way on enabling fast writes on this
board, see if I can squeeze a liitle more out...
Thanks again,

You only get a 4fps increase ??????
What kind of settings/ resoltions are we talking about here??
What sort of systems are these?
I'm considering to upgrade my system too... Right now I got a 1.33gHz AMD
and a 64mb GF2 Pro...
What I have in mind is to get a 128mb GF4-Ti4400 or maybe a Radeon 8500....
and if my budget allow it.. a faster CPU aswell...

p.s. now that I look at the device list again, my V5 just shows up as "3dfx
Voodoo Series"... WTF? Damn...

And for the record, on a V5 you probably won't see much difference
anyway, it may look like an AGP card, and it may use the AGP slot, but
in reality it's not taking advantage of AGP, 3Dfx believed the AGP bus
to be too slow to be of much use and designed their card differently,
that's one of the reasons the PCI version of the V5 became quite popular
with people who's computers didn't have an AGP port as the performance
between the two of them were almost identical, hence you got a decent
vid card that would run perfectly happy in a PCI slot
That's Reader Digest version, I can't remember the tech bits, I'm old
and my memory is failing me (actually I'm not *that* old but I'm not a
morning person and I always feel old before lunch)

BTW, thanks for your work on RASCAR. I've only attended a couple of
meets (#69 MrkyMrk) but it's much appreciated. Now that I've got a
more capable rig I may try again - if you decide to keep on truckin',
that is...

Embarrasing history aside, Mark Wahlberg (sp?) has com on quite nicely. I'd
happily step into his shoes! And yes, I have owned a Marky Mark single at
some point!
I just couldn't think of anything imaginative at registration time.
