I had the Hot Rod mag drag racing sim (Burnout) too, but it was strictly
bracket racing which I hate... Plus when I had it, it wouldn't do burnouts
so I never got proper tire temps. Ironic that a game called Burnout wouldn't
do burnouts. Oh I guess they eventually cam up with a keyboard work
around that would allow burnouts, but I wanted something that I could
control with my wheel/pedals. I also think the control part of burnout
was porked too.

Actually it did have Heads-Up races as well and by setting the AI to
fast enough and running your custom built class you could simulate (to
some extent, with what 3000 hp you got you) funny cars and such.
They fixed that problem in Burnout: Player's Edition, and apart from
never being able to do a good burnout on the rail cars, it worked
quite well.
Yes, a bit of a hassle, but once you get the buttons and axis' sorted
out and tweak out that understeer, it was quite enjoyable. I'd
definitely recommend who is mainly interested in tweaking a car with
very realistic parameters and taking it to the track.
Then there was the version with Jap cars, but I doubt anyone would
like to drag race a Miata or a Huyndai.
What I do using a Logitech FF USB is to set the wheel up
in DirectX controller setup checking the combined axis box.
That combines the brake and throttle and the
game will then work properly with the controller.
(I use the same workaround for SCGT.)
I could probably figure out how to set up a Logitech Profile
to do the same thing automatically when I start the game,
but I haven't figured that trick out yet.
I know that the pedals work because we took
those pedals to the Moto1.net ***ia Nationals
and let people stomp the h*** out of them for
hours in the midway. ;)

My original attempt to get the gaem going was with a TM T2 unit
with the adapter converter which indeed put the pedals on the
same axis as the wheel. Most DirectX driving games required it
because it would only reccognize the device on ID#1 in the
joystick applet in the control panel. So I know it worked and
were setup that way. As I recall "some" people were able to
get the pedals to work. Others were just out of luck. I never heard
that this was resolved either.
I never tried NHRA with my Logitech. It will probably work
as it is digital. Do you know if I can assign the clutch to one
of the buttons on the wheel?
Did the logitech pedal hold up??? I like the pedals but as
you probably know many people think that they are crapola.
This would be a good data point imho :-)
Let me know, I may give NHRA another whirl...

I was pleasantly surprised. Those wheels are pretty tough.
Even with the four *** "feet" worn off the
bottom of the pedal sets by the concrete surface
under our tent, they were still kicking!
Since I use my controllers mostly for "delicate" ;)
road racing control, I was wincing everytime
one of the players smashed the accelerator pedal
upon seeing the Christmas tree lights. It generally took
two runs before they were holding the pedal unit down
with their left foot so the pedal unit wouldn't screetch
a foot across the concrete on the start ;)
Give it a try. We also have our NHRA reissue patch either out,
or almost out, so you can upgrade online. http://www.racesimcentral.net/

I could never figure the damn thing out. I was e***d when I bought the game,
but now it's sitting on my shelf, collecting dust...
