N2 Gearing for a 100% Taladega Run

After downloading numerous setups for Taladega, I have come to the
conclusion that these setups are for a %50 or less race.  I keep loosing
the engine betwen 120 and 145 laps.   Yes, I know, the red light is just
supposed to flash on at the end of the straight, but I can't seem to hit on
that combonation.  With the ones I downloaded, 4th is geared at 3.4, and it
red lines in the middle of the back straight at 203 mph.  I take it on up
to 207 before turn three starts slowing me down.  It redlines again just
before entering turn 1, but slows while in the turn.

Now, if I make 4th gear taller, as in 3.3, the engine doesn't want to turn
the gear.  What am I missing?

This is with the plate on.....

As to loosing the engine,  with N1 the oil pressure used ( still does )  to
drop off gradually before the engine would blow.  With N2, it just quits.
I haven't seen any loss of oil pressure before the engine blows.  Is this a
change, or am I just missing something?

( Jim S. )

Also, when ' something turned loose in the motor ', all I see in the
standings is a DNF.  Why not list what actually happened, like the AI cars
do?  And when viewing the replay, there was no smoke from the engine prior,
as the AI cars have.

3.30 is a fine gear for a long (100%) Dega' race. As long as you stay in
some sort of draft the engine should be able to get up to speed pretty
easily(I've managed a lap of 198.9XX with this gear and the draft at 106%
opp.) and not lose the motor.

Are you running in Arcade or Realistic mode? 207 On the straights seems a
little high for N2's dega I could be wrong since I don't use the
speedometer much but My car tachs about 9 grand at the end of each straight
witha 3.4 and I am doing 196.7 lap times.

Hmm,

I use the ace setup at taladega and my top speed at the end of the
backstraight sometimes will just barely hit 207mph and it stays around
190 going through the curves.  Usually I get up too 204 without
drafting.  Of course, it also depends on what you are driving with.
Like for instance, I am driving with the T2, others may be driving with
a gamepad and not get as high.  That is one of the reasons if you have a
joystick that you aren't getting such high speeds as others.
