Roberto Moreno just won the CART race at Michigan...
Beautiful, to see how winning a race can do to a man.
You'd think he just won an AI race at Monaco in GPL!

Good thing I saw the race live or I'd have been really choked about the lack
of a "spoiler" tag in the header of this post. Just a suggestion for any
future posts in which you wish to disclose the end of a race.

If you had spent those two hours watching sports news channels on TV,
that probably would have spoiled the race for you as well.  You wouldn't
do that, obviously, because chances are good you'd see the results.  So
why wouldn't you treat newsgroups (the operative word being "news") the
same way.  When race coverage is delayed for me, the TV and radio stay
off, and I wouldn't dream of reading ras until the race was over.  I
mean, why would you?

Because unlike the local and national news...I expect my fellow RASians to
be kindly and intelligent and not at all rude or belligerent and certainly
not the kind to ruin a race ending by posting the results.  However, since
the perp...er the fellow newgroupie has posted his aplogy, I will in the
magnamimous spirit that is RAS accept his profuse regret and merely chastise
him just once so that he mayeth learneth the erroreth ofeth hiseth wayseth.

I don't know about the rest of the r.a.s'ers.. but I for one agree with
Doug..

I see no reason why Luis should apologise at all.  This is a forum where
racing and such are frequently discussed, so if a topic arises that contains
information about the latest race - one should not be suprised at all. If
you didn't want to hear the results, then why seek a place/forum where the
results are *bound* to be posted sooner or later?

Rudeness or intelligence got nothing to to with it at all... - hmm, well
perhaps the latter do.... but in a reverse kinda way...  visiting
*news*groups, when you really dont wanna hear the *news* is... errrrr....
not very intelligent - is it?

You're telling me that I should avoid rec.autos.SIMULATORS for 3-4 days just
because the race result will get posted? I disagree. Eurosport no longer
airs CART live, so I have to wait for the tape delayed version on Wednesday
or Thursday. That's the reason I DON'T go to rec.autos.sport.INDY ...

How hard is it to put "spoiler" on the subject line?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The results are no bound to appear at rec.autos.SIMULATORS, I of course
doesn't visit r.a.s.INDY or r.a.s.CART if I don't want to see the
results. But to expect me not to visit rec.autos.simulators just because
I might get to see discussion of a off-topic race there is to expect too
much.

hehe, "racing" discussions on r.a.s.i. or r.a.s.c. (or r.a.s.f1.) that's
toooo funny!

trust me, there are *far* more intelligent racing cart/irl/f1 discussion
here than there are on any of those groups.

So you suggest all racing discussion should take place here, because
then the discussion will be more serious?

There's no crying in auto racing...! :)

Eldred
p.s. although it was cool 'eavesdropping' on his emotions during the cooldown
lap.  If I'd just won my first race I'd probably be yelling too...
