PLEASE NOTE; I DID NOT WRITE THIS I GOT IT FROM THE F1 NEWSGROUP. AND
THOUGHT YOU ALL MIND FIND IT INTERESTING. SO DO NOT RESPOND TO AUTHOR..
THANKS..

I bought the new F1 Racing Simulation PC game today.
What a load of junk.
I was hoping for something like Mircoprose GrandPrix2 only with better
graphics.
Certainly the 3D graphics are better (when not glitching very badly - i.e
when not moving!!!) but the sounds are like toy cars.
The setup for controllers (wheels, pedals & joysticks) is really very poor
and you have to rely on ***win95's setup in control panel for that.
I can't get my wheel & pedals to work correctly as I could in GrandPrix2.
Most of all, the biggest pain is that it is a totally shite to drive (real
or arcade style). It is far worse that Pysgnosis F1 and that was bad.
I'm running on a spec of PC that exceeds the reccommended requirements and
it's still gives "jerk-o-vision" graphics.
Oh, and er...I can't seem to find reverse gear (realism eh!!) - actually I
think it's a bug and I don't there isn't one (honest!) so you often get
stuck in  barrier and you simply can't get out and gave to quit.
If you are gonna buy this game then get an assurance from the shop that you
can get a full refund if you don't like it before you part with your cash.

UBISOFT really hyped this game and they are gonna get some stick from all
those GrandPrix2 fans who have tried out F1RS this week. The huge problems
with this game can surley not be fixed with an upgrade patch and it seems
more fundamentally flawed.

Roll on Spring 1998 when GrandPrix3 will hopefully be released.

Well, I must sign off an compose my email to UBISOFT (!).

Comments anyone???

Furthermore................

I bet "Driver X" is glad he did not put his name to this "game" after all.

Fortunately, the shop I bought I bought mine from is quite good about
refunds for games that you are not happy with.

I'll see just what response and so called "patches" appear during this week
but it's a 99% chance I'll be returning it.

If you are already into GP2 then Money is better spend on buying the new
release of "Perfect GP" (the thing that allows you to add new tracks etc to
Grand Prix 2).
I'm an avid GP2 racer and I hope that when GP3 is released next year that
its performance is not choked by silly frills.
All GP3 has to do is provide some slightly better graphics and incorporate
many of the useful features that are already availabe for GP2 as
shareware/freeware (plus wet racing and perhaps multiplayer).

The best comment I've seen was:
"if F1RS were a racing car then it would be a Lola but with tyres made of
sponge, an engine supplied by Lego and my granmother driving it".

Happy racing to all.
