Looks better with each new trailer.  They even showed some new footage on
Letterman tonight when Stallone was on.  Supposedly this will be the first movie
to put you into the***pit to experience the ride from the drivers POV using
current SFX technology.  Looks like Super Speedway may get knocked down a peg...

As an autorace movie I think it looks worse with every new trailer that I
have seen.
Racing on city streets (driver would be kicked off the team) and with no
helmet or eye protection (lots of debris would come off front tires), racing
on a banked oval in the rain, exaggerated crashes that reveal tube frame
chassis, rookie test that has the driver trying to run over coins placed on
the track, and racing action that looks like the cars were filmed going slow
and the footage sped up to look fast. Seems like a lot of grit your teeth
and mash the gas to go fast attitude of racing.
Still this could be a great action movie for the none race enthusiast. I can
not tell from the previews if the story is any good. They like to mostly
just show the crashes and the women.
I hope I am wrong and the movie is better than the previews.

I saw the extended preview of Speedvision, and some of the special
effects looks so bogus it's incredible. Not only is the CGI stuff easy
to pick out because of it's sterile look, they also use it in
combination with scenes that defy the laws of physics making it even
more glaring.

Not sure if it's possible for a racing movie to surpass Days Of
Thunder on the ***scale, but this one might do it.

Hello, Driven is an action movie with a big audience target, and not a
historically accurate documentary.
What did you expect, GPL physics? :)

But on the upside, Days of Thunder/Top Gun 2 made NASCAR look somewhat
entertaining.  If Driven can raise the awareness of CART to the same level,
then it will be a good thing.

I think you should read it like: Days of Thunder = Top Gun 2

Hate to be so cynical, but then hollywood has conditioned me to be
that way. The more trailers I see the less I want to see this film.
The action looks over the top and the story thin. I agree with the
people who say it's going to be right up there/down there with Days
of Thunder. Might appeal to the guy who's looking for a good truck
crash movie, but would settle for a good Cart crash movie ;-)

I hate to be on Bernie's side on just about anything, but I bet when he sees
this turkey he's going to be DAMN glad he booted Stallone the hell out of
the paddock.

peg...

Ugh, it looks awful, IMHO.  From the first trailer on, the only thing that
ran through my mind was the phrase "car-crash movie".  The preview scene of
Sly racing down the street sans helmet made me cringe, especially when the
"manhole cover" bounced off the air intake (which by all rights should have
shredded the car - anyone else remember when such a thing actually happened
during a Group C race at Montreal?).  The other night, I caught about five
minutes of the HBO special on the making of this "masterpiece" (it was all I
could stomach) and saw some of the most impossible (and stupid looking)
crash sequences ever committed to film.  When you combine this with the
ominous words "Screenplay by Sylvester Stallone", I think you've got a movie
that'll make Days of Thunder look like Spartacus.

Of course that's just my opinion, I may be wrong...

From all of the reviews I've seen, that's almost everybody's opinion. I
haven't seen so much unanimity since the reviews for "Battlefield Earth".

I was never planning to see it in the theatre, but I don't think I'll even
spend the $3 to rent it...

Every review I have read thought it stunk. One guy said he was going to give
it no stars but felt pity for Stallone for having such a horrible movie , so
he gave it one. I thought it looked great until I read 7 reviews saying the
same thing. And I agree with the other poster that the special effects look
cheap.
