When downloading the Konrad Porsche 911 GT2 from Blackhole Motorsport, I
instead get the Porsche 993. Am I missing something, or is this a mistake?

It's not a mistake. The older 911 is a 993, the current 911 is a 996. It's
just a number that describes the generation.

In that Americans consider a 911 as a the only "real" Porsche. So for
marketing reasons every iteration is still called 911. Where as in Europe
they aren't infatuated with the 911 tag so each new generation gets a new
number 959; 993; 996 etc.
OT: All the Porsches (up to the Boxter) are numbered 9** even the racing
cars; 907, 914, 917; 959; 962 etc. They're at 996, what the hell are they
going to do in four cars???
