ever to be seen on usenet. This guy is a messed up IRL fan who is
contributing 75% of the posts to that newsgroup. He was called 'nik
zeppelin', now he is 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'. Any ideas on how to kick him
out?
Nick.
Nick.
This sounds like a job for "LeChicken"... <g>

Basically, it refers to someone who comes into a newsgroup looking for
controversy and utters obviously inflammatory statements which get some
people to 'bite'. The others - the smarter 'fish' - learn to stay clear..
Thanks!
I understand the usenet meaning of the word but was curious where it came
from. In Norwegian a Troll is a mythical creature. Something like this:

Isn't there a guy called Rik Zeppelin who used to be regular here? He
wasn't a troll from what I remember...
Rob
There is a 'rik zeppelin' in r.a.s.c and he isn't a troll, but this guy is
'nik zeppelin'. They appear to be different people (ie the troll must have
got annoyed by 'rik' so he changed his name to 'nik').

Isn't that 'trawling'?
If you ignore them, they will usually get bored and go away.
