criteria for >>>the game. I remember the release STATING weather
changes, voice overs,

Sorry, but I would still call GP2 "decent output", considering it is
better than any other racing sim I have tried.

Nobody said it was being held back so it could be as bug-free as
possible.  That was ***that people stirred up in this newsgroup.  The
main reason it was held up was to make it playable on less-powerful
computers.

Good luck.  A class-action suit against a product which at least 90% of this
newsgroup is happy with.  It sucks that it took so long to get to us, and that it
doesn't have weather, or allow you to drive to parc ferme, or a billion other
nit-picking complaints that everyone has, but I haven't found a better racing sim
yet, so I don't see why all the complaints are warranted.

And cause of the existing of some old stuff inside the code, existing from
the time they beleaved they will include weather, they will now work on a
patch ? <VBG> Be serious.

I'm somewhat optimistic. They did the same for GP 1 (ages ago) when the
release version included code for linked play that was disabled. Later I
got The Update(tm) per mail. Just depends wether Microprose has adopted
Microsoft behaviour over the last years or not - hmmm... after having
been robbed with GP Manager (no decent fix yet - ever?) I'm not so
sure...

Actually, I fully expect a patch (how long? who knows?) since there
is clearly a "patchlevel=0" entry in gp2log.txt if the game is run
with logging turned on.

If you've ever distributed software, and managed version control, you
would probably understand that if you decide not to use code - you
take it out of the binary!  I feel Microprose would have reasonable
version control, and there is no excuse for leaving code in an exe
if it is never meant to be executable.
