Hi Bud,
In IndyCar, they do not race back to the line as they do in NASCAR.
Once the yellow comes out, cars are supposed to slow down and not pass.
It would be much too dangerous to race back to the line (actually, I think
it's much too dangerous in Nascar).  Witness what happened in 94 at
Phoenix ala Villeneuve almost splitting Matsushita in half.

Racing back to the s/f line is a Nascar thing...

What are you talking about?!?!?!  They WERE NOT allowed to race back to
the line in ICR 1994 Phoenix.  That was just Villeneuve's career
BONEHEAD move.  This was his first oval IC race and he didn't notice
the yellow was out.  So he almost killed a driver!  What he did there
was more stupid then what Scott Goodyear did at Indy 1995!!!  Goodyear
wasn't attempting to kill somebody with his race car!!! He just cost
himself $2.5 million US.

Well Matsushita is pretty much a bonehead anyways, so he probably had
it coming.  He's only in the series because of his family's bucks!!
But surprising what a few years can do, he is finally getting to be a
better driver.
