NASCAR dos4gw errors

Help..

When I run Nascar in SVGA mode, after a while the game crashes and I get
a dos4gw run time error - invalid opcode.

I have tried a boot disk (does anybody know if you need himem and emm as
they seem not to be needed) and this had no effect.

It is probably because I am runnning a 486 DX4 100 at 120 Mhz, but all of
my other games, windows, diagnostics etc. are OK.  What is it about
Nascar that causes this crash?

Thanks
Richard Miles

I ran across the same problem periodically.  I contacted Papyrus, and
the technician told me that it was caused by emm386, which I had installed.
I mentioned to him that there are various posts in this newsgroup that
talk of enhanced frame rates with emm386 installed, and he said
that all of that was rubbish, and that I should run without it.
Anyway, I haven't had the problem since I took it out.

You have problems with Nascar with SVGA mode ?
I have the exactly opposite problem :
- no problems when I play in SVGA
- crash memory after a few minutes in VGA mode

I run the game on a P100 16Mb with a Formula T1. I tried WITH and WITHOUT
loading Emm386 : the result is the same.

Strange...
Very strange...

I still get dos4gw run time and page fault errors periodically, even with
a clean re-boot with NOTHING loaded.

This problem must be because I am overclocking my dx4 100 to 120MHz.
What I don't understand is why is it only Nascar and dos4gw that crashes
when all other games, benchmarks and diagnostics run fine?

Thanks

Richard - I have periodic DOS4GW related crashes in NASCAR and I am using
a stock 90MHz Zeos Pentium system, I doubt the problem is related to your
overclocked 486.  NASCAR racing is THE best game I've ever had but I wish
they could work the computer crashes out of the code, everyone I know who
has NASCAR has these periodic crashes (yes we're all using clean boots)...
