Anyone had trouble with this combination? As soon as I install the WingMan
s/w (V3.30 - the latest V3.62 doesn't seem to install) and Windows tries to
find the device after re-boot, it hangs. I've tried the USB cable and
serial, it even hangs with neither of them connected. USB scanner is OK and
the Serial port works with my modem. The LWFF was fine before my motherboard
upgrade.

Weird.

I had this problem with the 3:30s on the KT7 Raid and had to install their
speed patch from the wingmanteam site. The 3.6xs installed fine and include
this patch. I'm using WinME BTW. What's your CPU speed? This was a known
problem with all CPUs over 1GHz and 3.30s.

I can email the speed patch to you if you want.............

I had the same problem too running a KT7 with a duron at 1ghz. Get the new
drivers. I actually had to go into safe mode because the loading of the
logitech software totally shut down my computer.

I had to MANUALLY unzip and install the 3.62 drivers.  Did you first try
downloading
the NEW windows installer program that is used for the 3.62 drivers?  Even
with that, I would get a lockup and the new installer wouldn't finish
updating the drivers.
But what I did...from memory ...this "MAY" be somewhat shakey...
right click on the 3.62 drivers file.  I think I chose an unzip option
rather than install.
once I had the drivers unzipped into a temp folder I updated the drivers
with the Device Manager inside the System Control Panel.  Using the update
drivers, I pointed to the folder where the files were unzipped and the new
drivers then were updated.  No problems since with a 1.1ghz Athlon and the

I have Win98 SE and a 1G Thunderbird currently overclocked to 1.3GHz . The
only patch I can find on the wingmanteam site is for 3.50, 3.60b and 3.62.
V3.62 gets as far as "Preparing to install" and then closes down.

I did have it working briefly by following the advice in the readme (yes, I
know...) - my ISA SoundBlaster16 failed to install so there was no gameport,
forcibly installing a gameport did the trick. I've since got the SB16 to
work and the LWFF crashed. Now the soundcard won't work and I'm back to
square one with the LWFF. Maybe it's time to upgrade my soundcard too.

I don't think it applies to my problem. If it does then yes please.

Thanks for the help,

Yes. I've had that for some time but I re-installed it anyway after
re-installing Win98 when I first had problems.

Same here.

I tried that too :-(

Thanks to the WingManTeam site I've found out that there are other people
with the same problems. It seems to be connected to fast machines - maybe I
should go back to my C450!

Anyway, thanks to everyone for their help, I'm off to flash the BIOS again,
install a few more patches and probably buy a new HD so that I can start
from scratch.

I found the patch and tried installing V3.25C off the CD and then patching
it. No joy. I slowed my PC down to 900MHz. No joy.

I think I have enough (too much!) information now, thanks. I'll report back
if I get it working. Why did I think that putting a new motherboard would be
straightforward this time? It never has been in the past.

I'm not quite sure what did it - I went back to Logitech Profiler V3.25C
with the LWFF connected via the serial port and installed my SB16 but
disabled them all in Device Manager. I then re-booted and re-enabled the
sound card. I re-booted again to make sure then enabled the "fake" gameport
and the LWFF. Still OK. Re-booted with the LWFF in the USB port. All present
and correct. I now  installed Profiler V3.30 and tried to patch it but got a
"ERROR: unable to read file!" message. This was all at 900 MHz so now I
wound up the clock to 1.3 GHz (it's a 1GHz part) and tweaked the RAM. That
seemed OK with GP3 but GPL crashed very quickly. Back down to 1.2 GHz and
less aggressive RAM timing and it all seems stable.

At last! All graphics options. All sounds. 19 opponents. Max resolution and
36 fps all the time, well except if starting from the back of the back of
the grid. GP3 with less than 100% PO. Finally my hardware has caught up with
the software.

Of course, now I have a "new" GPL to learn - 19 opponents and all that sound
make things even more difficult than they were before...

P.S. I still can't install V3.62 but I don't care right at this moment :-)
