N3: Multiple Servers with W98

by b » Tue, 20 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Is it possible to run multiple dedicated servers with W98? I've been trying
this by putting the MULTI_PORT option in the n3.ini file to different port
numbers. From what I can see only servers on port 17761 is accessible to
racers.

The N3 server is behind a firewall. I opened up all the appropriate ports. I
checked (and re-checked) the firewall configuration and I believe the ports
are opened up.

Any thoughts.
Thanks.

Yes Bob, this should be possible.  I ran the Brickyard-Onecall.net servers
on 98se for a long time and we ran 4 servers at a time.

It is possible, and yes you need to use the Multi_Port stuff.

Bob,

Yes, you can run multiple servers of N3 off of one box.  You need to have a
separate install for each "server" that you want to run.  Just install them
to different directories, e.g. papyrus/nascar3, papyrus/nascar3_2, etc.
Then modify the n3.ini file for each "server" to point to a different port
number, 17761, 17762, etc.
