MOMO Lights Out?

by Brian McLerno » Fri, 29 Nov 2002 02:40:17

Anyone else burn out the little LEDs on the wheel?  The wheel is only about
6 months old and I don't know when this happened, just noticed it last night
racing online.  Perhaps they're not burned out and just not working?  I took
the main plate off the wheel and they are not in sockets where they'd be
east to replace.  I may have to get my soldering iron out after a trip to
Radio Shack!  Any suggestions or anyone else have the same problem?
Thanks!

LED's almost never burn out but I guess it can happen. It could however be
something else. If you want to check, take it out and apply 2 volt to it to
se if it works. A 1,5V battery would also do. You can't blow it by reversing
the voltage, but make sure you don't swap the wires when you solder it back
in or it's won't light. Chances are 99,9% the LED itself works.
While your at it you could change them for blue LED's. A lot of folks think
that's cool. Just make sure their not high intensity, or you would have to
wear sunglasses when you race. :)

If I were you I wouldn't care as long as the wheel works. I never understood
the purpose of these LED's anyway. :)
