Ive Had the game for a day now, and It has lived up to the hype,
but there are things I would has liked to see.
The install was simple - although it told me that I did'nt have enough
extended memory, and on one machine couldn't look up the
sound card - but worked anyway.
The intro and music is good, and it doesn't take long to load.
I've installed onto two machines - a DX280 and a Pentium 100
The DX280 can go to svga with minimum detail, its a bit jumpy
but is playable, vga with most detail is the best though
anything less is f1gp look alike !
The pentium is working with SVGA , minimal mirror detail, but
everything else high .
The first thing to hit you is the complex menus, and the new views,
especially the director mode.
The smoke from the tyres are a great touch also.
One early reviewer did say that he was black flagged. Although
the exellent manual does mention all flags, Ive tried hard to get a
black flag, but it doesn't seem to be implemented which is a shame.
The first quick race I did had a car in front with flames coming from
the engine and black smoke. This was great, and also more mechanical
breakdowns happen. The AI cars only seem to pit if your doing a
longish race. The AI is good, as cars try to avoid you if you break
hard, and try to stop you getting past.
The feel of the game hasn't been spoilt, the cars handle better than
f1gp, and it does seem harder to catch and overtake cars, making
set ups more important.
Well worth 33.00 Well done Geoff
