Well, everything looked great, but the frame rate turned out the be the
killer here. In D3D mode, I'm getting between 10-15 fps, dropping to 5
in heavy traffic. It is totally unplayable. I switched to software mode
and it ran between 15 and 20 fps with drops to 10 in heavy traffic.
I've got a PIII 450 with Matrox G200 that it looks great on. I'm using
it for work, but I guess I'll swap this weekend. It gets a solid 30 fps
in D3D.
I'm dissapointed with Papy bailing on rendition. It has been passed by
the other video mfgs, but since GPL supported it, I expected N3 to
also. This is really N2 updated, and to get the full effect I need a
TNT2 or a 3dfx V2000,V3000 for video and an MX300 for the full effect of
sound. Along with some speakers, I'm already over $200 (could easily
push $400 with the TNT2's). I'm going to have to decide what to do.
I raced multiplayer tonight with a friend, and it got ugly..lol. The AI
cars were slow at 100% and irratic. I got a black flag because a car
would not pass me and get back in his position under caution.
It was fun, and the new graphics looks awesome, just slow on my system.
The sound is better even though I just have an Awe 64. Indy looks cool.
I'm still working it out.. but so far I'm dissapointed.
