Has anybody else bought the new NASCAR game?  I was a bit disappointed
when it didn't have and road textures like ICR.  Other than that..the sound
and graphics are MUCH better and smoother than ICR and the realism is just
fantastic.   Any other feelings, questions or comments?

BTW, due to some email I am talking about NASDEMO.ZIP.  I just formed my
message in bad grammar when I said anybody else instead of anyone at all.
I heard the game came out on 11-10-94 and was just wondering....

The road textures are GREAT, especially in SVGA mode.  Some of the tracks,
like Bristol where the track is black, it merely looks solid black as the real
track does.

Hey Ralf,

I'm Commishioner of the ICRA Modem Prix Series here on
CompuServe.  One of my members (Mark Urbancic) tells me he has
been in contact with you about the possibility of connecting
IndyCar Racing via the internet.  Wow!

Do you know anymore?

This is my first excursion into the Net--and am doing it through
CompuServe.  I hope you can get back to me via E-Mail.

--- Yes, he was wrong.  It's as beige as can be actually.  No problem. ;-)
Of course with track texturing it has a 'hint' of black in it for
visual appeal.  Now, the apron... that is black! :-)

Yep!

Unless you have at least a Pentium with 64-bit graphics, these visuals are
very rare.

No flaming here, but when did you expect to make your pit decisions... in the
pits as in IndyCar?  We'd all like to hire an actual pit crew, but damn, this
sim is as good as it gets for now.  Maybe in a few years... who knows.

Agreed!

I have had limited success in this field, but have NOT been able to pursue it
with my running a racing series right now.  The testing was done locally
through a clean backbone connection through a Unix server.  Unfortunately I
have no idea what made it work the way it did, but it only worked for a
limited time period anyway.

This may sound like a silly question - but does NASCAR do non-oval
circuits.  I would be very suprised if they do, but I prefer driving real
circuits to ovals and would be hesitant to buy the game if it was all
oval driving  (even though I did really enjoy the demo - The engine sound
is excellent compared to the whine I get in Indycar).

Road textures?  Have you checked your graphics settings?  It does have road
textures just like ICR's.

: I also just got the new nascar game and it is amazing.  I do however have
: some dislikes about it.

: 1)  Unless you have a pentium machine the screens seems to "stick".

--- Should be no prblem with frame-sticking with a nice 486-66 w/ 8Meg
and track/grass textures off...... (low res)

: 2)  I can't see the car numers on the cars.  I can't even see the team
:     sponsers.

--- Get closer then ;-)  Throw you timidness out the window... scrape some
of 'his' decals off.... you can make it out....

: 3)  I have to determine what changes I want on my pit stop while I am racing
:     with the other cars.  (You thought that cell phones in cars is a distraction

--- No, no car-phones or the like.... just <pause> the game and make
your changes... then resume.  Too simple.

: Other than that I think that Papyrus has another winner in the racing Sim game

--- you GOT THAT SOME SORTA' RIGHT!  Whooo Hooo!

Currently, there are two road course circuits on the Nascar Winston Cup
Series... Sears Point and Watkins Glen.

Nascar Racing from Papyrus currently has Watkins Glen only.

Oh... and that whine?  That's the Indycar drivers.  (sorry, couldn't resist)

Later...
