help with rbjoy/NL

by James Lars » Sat, 18 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I am trying to use rbjoy with NL and N3.  I have configured the file so that
the buttons on my wheel replace keys, but when I try to run the program, I get
the following error: "Could not capture controller device."  I am using the
Guillemot FF wheel.  I've never reconfigured joysticks/wheels before, so I
really am at a loss about how to get this to work.  Any help would be very much
appreciated.

Usually that means you wheel is not turned on or not connected. Check it out
;)

No, my wheel is on and connected and works fine in those sims, except the
buttons on the wheel don't activate the keys (e.g., button 8 runs F2 key, etc.)
The readme text said something about my wheel already using a cfg. file so
that it can't use the file from rbjoy, although I didn't really get what that
meant.

Stop using the piece of ***"profiler" program that came with the wheel--it
crashes almost all programs anyway.  RB-JOY is 100 times better.

Marc.

Okay. I assume that the Guillemot editor works in N3 with your Ferrari
wheel, so that you can configure F2, F3, O and the like to work as wheel
buttons?

Make sure the Ferrari editor isn't running when you try to run RB-Joy. I
don't know what else to say. RB-Joy and the Ferrari editor both work in N3
for me (but not at the same time of course).
