  OK, not very "simmish" but I like on-screen "you are here" maps.  It
really helps me learn a track.  I notice F1 Challenge doesn't have them (I
bought this game for all the mods).

   you won't find too many sims that do have those maps.  You might say
the difference between a sim and an arcade racer is...with arcade you
have the time to look at the map and see where you are.  With a sim, if
you take the time to look at the map you will be in the ditch or the
armco.  
  Overly generalized to be sure...but I hope everyone will get the point.

Live for Speed has a map option like that and it's pretty sim-ish, right?

Obviously, it is one of the first things one tunrs off when configuring any
driving game. I do not suffer***pit distractions gladly, but I'm a big fan
of idiot/shift lights... I whish GPL had one. The number of times I forget
to shift when there's a lot going on is nothing short of staggering. :-/
