Hi,
what is the point in bringing out a 1996 carset - if's that what they
(MP/GC) are going to!! The 1996 F1 season is practically finished. It
would be old and out of date by the time the update reached the market -
the 1997 season will be gearing up with new teams, new drivers, driver
changes, new sponsors, etc .... etc .....

I for one would rather have an editor that allowed you to create new
cars, drivres, alter driver/car performances, and so on.

Or if it WERE POSSIBLE a 1997 update patch. I think most of us can
safely guess the 1997 line-up, or will know it in about 2 months time.

> SARDEVi agree there is no way they can release updates in time for whatever

season we are in so they should make an editor, the most important thing
is to be able to edit the rules which change over the years u know the
height of the plank, number of qualifying days, gp2 has 2 in 1996 there
is only one qualifying day these sort of things is a must and i
personally think that gp2 will die if microprose don't do something
about season updates and an editor seems the smart way but as we all
know microprose are not smart so we'll have to see.

Sorry, I don't think that there will be an update patch, since Microprose/GC
only licensed the 1994 F1 season from FIA. A 1196/1997 update patch would them
cost money again. So it's more reasonable to use an editor to create your own
cars, drivers, teams.

If you want an excellent carset, look for PK Arnall's 1996 carset on the
WWW, it is beautifully rendered and very authentic, plus the files have
been changed so that it more accurately reflects the order of finish
during the 96 season.

I agree that a licensed patch for the 1996 or preferably the 1997 season is

unlikely (ie cars etc..) but a patch to include rule changes and the like
would be essential for Microprose to hold it's name as a SIMULATION
software company.  The rules of F1 shouldn't be licenced, just the side
of the sport which actually makes $$$, ie sponsorship/advertising.

I must say, speculation on whether there will be *any* patch to bring in
weather, voice overs etc was concerning me, until I had a look at
gp2log.txt
which contains an entry "patchlevel=0" which indicates a patch *should* be
on it's way at some point --- just hope it takes less time than the actual
game.

I'm sure Frank Williams and Co. will be happy to know what their cars
look like.
