It is kind of strange how Sir Geoff does his software engineering.  He
obviously is a brilliant programmer.  But he doesn't seem to listen to
the customers, he doesn't even look round to see what is on the market
(e.g. he apparently never looked or played any Papyrus' sims)  He does
it his way regardless whether you like it or not.  I bet it was him that
thing the game is not good enough, and not let Microprose release it.
And here we are, with GP2, which is brilliant I must say, also inherits
a lot of F1GP stuff in it, regardless whether we think it's good or bad.
Things like more than 20 secs replay, let the player driving back to the
pits after the race or practice, I am sure it is not too hard to
implement compared to what he has done, but he simply doesn't care.  He
simply did it his way.  I have doubts whether we will ever get most of
the stuff we asked for. e.g. parade lap, 10 sec stop go penalty for
black flags, ability to see wheels in***pit, hearing other cars in
***pit.

Well, just a little comment.  I still like the game very much, and have
been late to bed because of it ...  But wouldn't it be better if he just
listens.

Yes, that would be great, wouldn't it?

I think the problem (?) is that he doesn't program games for customers, he does
it for himself!  The disadvantage is that you don't get all the options you
would like. The advantage is that the ones you get will be perfectly
implemented.

I'll go for the latter....

Jo,
Tell me your not so wound up in all this to think GP2 is perfect. I'm
no great programmer and I'm not saying it ***but.... for a game that
has been heralded for so long I think it leaves PLENTY of room for
improvement. There are many bugs that have already been reported and I
will guarantee more to come (eg. the reply function is almost useless,
it can be quite amusing to see a totally different series of events
than the ones recorded!!!).

Remember, everyone has their opinion.

Anthony.

He might be a good programmer, but he's lazy as hell, or at least
his department is.  Kraemmer had all that GP1 had before GP1 came out!
And for having 5 years of time, and only so few improvements...I don't
know.
