Matt Sentell won Thursday's Papy Cup event at Nurburgring, with
Silverstone winner Rich Yasi second and Randy Cassidy third.  Series
leader Dave Kaemmer was a DNF.

Click on "Reviews" and follow the link to the Papy Cup race report page.

You'll find a number of spectacular screen shots of cars in flight over
the hills of Germany.  As always, click on the screen shots in the story
to see the full size 800x600 shots.

Thanks for the review!  Only a couple of the Papy staff were under 9
mins,  This track will be difficult for sure!

Hi Alison,another great report,thanks.
But one thing has confused me.Many Beta testers that post messages on RAS
stated that pit stops were not possible during a race .If  you crash or have
a minor break, you're out of the race. And to my surprise,i read on your
report that more than one driver crashed(Betts and Rich)and were able to
come back after the car was repaired.
So what is the truth?which crashes and failures will not take the driver out
of the race?
I guess you're playing the final version ,right?
Thanks
Rafael

I think that actually (I might be wrong) after Mike Lescault's departure
they made a last-minute change and incorpored a pitstop fonction into GPL.

AFAIK if you check out the monza.txt file you might already find some
information about this... Im not sure...

There is some repairs that are done when you shift-R in lower skilled GPL
races, but in fact Im about sure now you can pit... yes you can.. Not sure
if I have the possibility to tell this but there's many factors for
"pitstopping".  The team's ability to perform normal pit service can change
for such things as :

Consistency, Mistake, Engine rating, 4tire Pitstop time rating, Reliability,
Repairs factor rating and finally the risk.

Of course, the full version will be different, but I can't tell.

Ah yes I actually made a little error...

I know about the whole Shift-R stuff... but I realised after my posting that
all the "pitstop" information in GPL files was more for the AI than the
player in easier GP modes. Oops sorry

Btw, I would hope to see a patch for GPL that if you raced without any AI in
multiplayer that you could do it with the Advanced Trainee and the trainee
car..

Unless it was extremely last minute, pitstops for repairs are not
implemented in GPL.  The only time you'd visit the pit during a GPL race
would be to serve a penalty of some description.  As for repairs, it is
possible to use Shift-R in the beginner or easier modes of play, but at
Intermediate these options are reduced and at Pro or GP you may not use
Shift-R at all during a race session (and nor can the AI cars of course
<g>).

If I recall correctly, pit stops were extremely rare on the F1 circuit in the
late 60's, weren't they?  As in you pitted if your day was over anyway.

Correct, Bob.
Either that or your team manager wanted you to hand over your car to
your team-mate....Fangio!
