for Derek Daly's Ensign at the South African GP. Truly the most hideous
monstrosity ever entered into a Grand Prix.

Anyway, odd and freakish, yes, but I think the Ensign was much more
hideous. To each his own. Lol
BTW, your link didn't work. I had to find 1971 in Forix and go to the
photo gallery.
Cheers,

FWIW it looks more like a surfboard mounted to the nose :) Either way its
odd...shows what some teams did to simply "improve" upon last years car back
then. Look at some of the monstrousities that filled the back of the grid at
Indy in the late 60s early 70s...talk about plyboard remodeling :)
And yes the Ensign is far uglier...and to think they actually DESIGNED it that
way.

South africa 1972
who the hell designed these
who the hell wants GPL2 in the 70's drawing these cars will be a
nightmare!!!!
It is driven by Peter MULLER, team manager of a race truck team and is
entered in the FIA classic F1 championship.
This championship is with F1 cars from 1970 until 1978 (the black lotus of
andretti), they are having 6 or 7 races per year on european tracks, some of
the races are with us (the trucks), at least 2 next year, Nurburg (mid july)
and Zolder (end of september).
Even though the drivers are not "professionals" the noise is still there,
and what a noise, you also have the 6 wheel tyrell from Depailler.

I think the "Ugliest F1 car" award has to go to the 6-wheel Tyrrell or
the 1979 Ferrari 312 T4. Urgh :-)

I used to think that Ferrari was an ugly beast too, until I saw the December
2000 issue of F1 Racing magazine! They've made that Ferrari look like a Sex
Machine (As the article is named :-)
