TSW wheels opinions?

Just wondering how many of you here use TSW wheels
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/)?  I'm thinking of buying a
TSW2 Modified soon.  How long have you had it?  What sims do you use it for?
How do you like it overall?  I'm planning to use it with:

GTR 2002- surprise!
F1 2002
GPL
Superbike 2001
LFS
CMR2
NFS Porsche Unleashed (patched to v.3.5 works with WinXP, btw).
GP3

Bulletproof.  Built like a tank.  Very precise, lasts forever, and fabulous
customer service.  Downside: the stock wheel looks like it came off a Trabbi
Formula One car.

I've had mine about 3 years now.  Just replaced the pots in the pedals.  I
have been thinking about getting the hardware to mod it to split axis but I
just don't play enough to warrant it really.  Very nice wheel.  Well worth
it for me since I went through the 100 dollar wheels at about a one a year
clip due to usage.  The only thing I run anymore with any regularity is the
Papy Nascar series, currently 2003 season, but it works well for any racing
sim I have tried it with.  I could care less about force feedback generally
as I have yet to see an implementation that adds all that much to a game.  I
have a buddy with a  Momo FF and have had seat time with several
contemporary racing games that feature FF.  Still just a gimmick to me but
that's just my opinion.  If FF isn't a big deal to you then the TSW wheels
are superb.  I'd get the one with the clutch.  ANother thing I am thinking
about as a mod.  It was a very expensive add-on when I got my wheel and only
a couple of games supported it anyway.

Kevin,

I agree with you about the gimmick-ness of FF.

I think that you can get the clutch kit upgrade for only $60 now.  Just
specify which TSW2 model you have:
"There are 2 different styles of pedal construction on TSW2 models. The
current design has only 2 bolts securing the entire metal frame onto the
base. If yours is this type (look at the underside of your pedal
controller), then specify "Late Model TSW2" when ordering a clutch. If your
controller has more than 2 bolts then you will need to specify "Original
TSW2" when ordering the clutch kit" quoted from:

TSW wheels opinions?

Sean,

I'm the proud owner of a TSW2 stock wheel.  I've owned a Thrustmaster
T2 and a MSFF wheel, and neither one comes close to the precision and
quality of the TSW2.  I've had my wheel for over 3 years now and the feel is
the exactly same as the day I got it. I've generally go through a complete
set of 3 DT pots per year ( change all of them even if I don't need to so
that I have absolutely no issues during the year).

The service is in a league all by itself. Emails are promptly answered,
problems are taken care of ASAP, replacement parts are always in my mailbox
in 2 days ( and I live in New York ).  The only parts that I've ever needed
are DK pots ( last change needed to go from 100 ohm pots to 250 ohm pots to
use the USB adapter and XP ), and a new clamp that I stripped by over
tightening it. After nearly 3 years  of this the clamp was still free.

I originally ordered my TSW2 with spilt axis and I strongly recommend
that you do the same. I keep on telling myself that I will order the bearing
shaft kit but I haven't done that yet, as the wheel is so silky smooth. I
never got their button kit since I already owned a Microsoft USB game pad. I
just keep it next to the wheel and I can program the buttons for just about
anything.

I currently only drive the following sims:
Grand Prix Legends
GTR 2002
F1 2002

i have the tsw2 stock (the cheaper version) with ball bearing
steering and shifter buttons on the pedal (not the shifter kit
that mounts behind the wheel, but the el cheapo buttons that go
on the spokes). Rock solid, as Steve has said, and I use it
mostly for GPL, F1 2002 and of course GTR 2002.

I really like the centering feel of the springs on the wheel.
You can bounce the wheel left on the straight in Rouen and it
will resettle and keep the car going straight all by itself ;-)

Customer service is the best I've ever had, too.

What 'benefits' are there to using the clutch?  My wheel(tsw2mod) has a clutch
pedal, but I don't use it...

Well, N2003 is a sim, as in simulation and the point is realism.  At least
that is why I run it.  Being a Nascar freak doesn't hurt but the Papy series
is the most realistic driving game IMO, and a clutch would certainly add to
that.  I could also downshift without worrying about blowing up because I
could ride the clutch a bit.  Benefits?  The experience.
