NOW, IS IT POSSIBLE TO RUN GPL ON A 233MMX?

Bill, I installed GPL on my old 233 with a V2 this morning and had exactly
the same results you did. I was actually quite impressed with how good it
looked. I'm used to running GPL on a PII 400, but with the graphics turned
down and limited to 5 AI cars, the 233 did ok. I know what I'll be doing
with my lunch hours from now on<g>.

>I responded a few days ago that something must be wrong with your system
>because I was getting 24-28 fps in training mode at Monza in 640x480.  That

>12MB Voodoo2 PCI 1000 on the same system, and now get 32-36 fps at Monza in

>the race.  Since your system has better specs than mine (128MB vs 64MB
RAM),
>you should be getting better performance than me.

>I also compared the new V2 card against the V1 card with Viper Racing and
>N3:

>In VR with all graphics options set to HIGH, I was getting 25.9 fps.  With
>the V2 card, 38.4 fps.

>In N3 testing mode, was getting average 20 fps with V1.  With V2, average
is
>now 30 fps, with many graphic options st to turn on automatically at 25 fps
>and turn off below 20 fps.

>> Here's the spec:
>> P233 MMX 128mb EDO RAM
>> Diamond Viper 550 16mb
>> Righteous Orchid Voodoo 2 8mb --> used for GPL
>> Win98  -  DirectX 7a  ---> (Worst performance with previous DX)
>> Sound Blaster AWE32 full retail version.
>> Gigabyte mainboard

>> I would appreciate any tips, or is it a hopeless cause?

Thanks for the tip, I'll bear that in mind

Mauricio.

>Be careful which Evergreen you go with!  I originally bought the MXPro240 to
