That was my experience too. Just breathing sometimes would set off a
command. How can breathing sound anything like a command? I had the volume
set as low as I could get it and still recognize my commands and did not
have mic boost on. Frustrating was my experience with this software, but I
kow others in the flight-sim group that really like it.

Did you have a "Voice Canceling" mic? Maybe it's "Sound Canceling" not
sure. But the one (Headset mic, w/o speaker) available from the GC2
website works flawlessly for me. I smoke, sometimes when I drive, so I
set the boom of the headset mic about even with my forehead, and it
picks up commands perfectly. I also installed a button, so it wouldn't
get set off from other talking or game sound (4 speaker + sub surround
sound) from my PC.. I've only used it with Nascar 4...

Same experience here. I don't really feel silly talking to the computer,
though, as long as it has a practical purpose, which being able to keep
focused on the action, rather than key-hunting, would definitely be
practical. But the bottom line is that it doesn't work, at least not in my
case. Oddly, GameCommander version 1.0 works quite a bit better for me than
GC2 does, although neither works well enough to keep them employed.

I find once you learn the keyboard commands for a game it is actually
quicker to just press the key than to say a command. The most reliable way
to use GC2 is to use the push-to-talk function because then it won't
interpret game sounds as  possible commands. But, doing it this way you have
to take your hand off the wheel and press the keyboard anyway so it kind of
defeats the purpose of using GC2 in the first place.

I bought a sub sim called Sub Command and it comes with an install option
for Microsoft's voice recognition software, but I never installed it because
of my experience with GC2. Maybe I should try it out sometime and see if it
works any better than GC2.

WindowsXP comes with the voice recognition software already. Apparently you
can use it in MS Office to dictate letters etc.

You do it BEFORE it's mixed.

The voice and game sound are seperate at one point or another.  They
obviously have to be because they are coming from different sources.

Whether it's technically feasible or not, for me to be interested in it
that's what it would have to do.

I owned one for a week and took it back for this reason.

I think that would require a separate sound card in order to make that work
as otherwise the outputs are mixed.  Windows and the hardware handle that
but I see your point.

I have a PCI sound card and an integrated soundcard on my mobo.  I use
the PCI for game sounds and the integrated card for Roger Wilco.  With
RW at least, you can specify what card it uses.  It's great, you get
voice chat in you headset, and the game sounds in your main speakers.

Man, you have TWO different sound cards working on the same system, at the
same time?

That's a feat :)
