Hi all,
For whoever was asking about the differential in GPL and speculating
on an LSD, below is some info for you. I didn't know if it was okay to
announce but some detail was mentioned over on Compuserve so I thought
I'd post it here for your delectation :-)
The information is from Steve Smith, who as you may recall has been
involved with Papy and GPL for many years. Following on from his ICR2
strategy guide, Steve is currently writing a strategy guide for GPL
along with Doug Arnao (who also helped enormously with SRN's GP2 setup
guide) - looks like a must buy :-)
-----------------
The final release (Q3, I think) will have plenty of variables to
fiddle with. Just to give you an indication, you will be able to
adjust the Salisbury differentials' "ramp angles" separately for
acceleration and deceleration. What?!? You don't know about ramp
angles? They make all the difference in the world to the way you
wrestle the car into the corner (where you want the diff basically
unlocked), and how you get the power down in the exit (where you want
the diff basically locked). Until my strategy guide comes out (it
will ship with the product), the only readable info on this arcane
topic is Carroll Smith's (no relation) "Driving to Win" (available
from Classic Motorbooks, 1-800-826-6600), which has no less than 14
pages on diffs.

Cheers!
